Sep 5, 2017Monday outside American Legion Post 1776, 14521 Granada Drive. Guest speaker retired U.S. Air Force Col. James W. Goodman, who flew 190 combat missions in Southeast Asia. Music by the Scott Highlands Middle School Band and the Velvet Tones.Bayport: American Legion parade featuring music and fire trucks beginning at 8:30 a.m. Monday at Minnesota 95 and Central Avenue and proceeding north on Minnesota 95, west on Seventh Avenue, south on Fifth Street and west on Fifth Avenue to Hazelwood Cemetery. Parade Grand Marshal will be World War II and Korea veteran Charles Halberg, who at age 96 is the oldest member of the Bayport American Legion. At the cemetery, a memorial ceremony will feature a speech by Washington County Attorney Pete Orput and music by the Stillwater Area High School Band.Cottage Grove: 12:30 p.m. Monday at the Veterans Memorial outside City Hall, 12800 Ravine Parkway S. Hosted by the city’s Beyond the Yellow Ribbon organization.Forest Lake: 9 a.m. Monday at Lakeside Memorial Park, 56 E. Broadway Ave. Dedication of new pavers for Veterans Memorial.Fort Snelling: Non-denominational Christian worship service, 11 a.m. Sunday at Fort Snelling Veterans Memorial Chapel, 1 Tower Ave. Sermon by retired U.S. Army chaplain Col.
